In this collection of essays the author covers a range of subjects, sorting out the rhododendrons, the roses and the jasmines, and showing how to use pergolas, water and tufa troughs for alpine plants. He reminisces about the nurserymen and the famous gardeners he has known. He suggests design solutions for unusual spaces, and ideas for gardens he has made or only dreamed about. He attempts to offer encouragement and guidance for those who are just beginning to garden, and information for the more experienced.
Biographie de l'auteur :
Graham Stuart Thomas is one of the sixty-three medal holders of the Victoria Medal of Honour. He has been awarded the Veitch Memorial Medal by the Royak Horticultural Society as well as their Gold Medal for his paintings and drawings, and the Dean of Hole Medal by the National Rose Society. In 1975 he was awarded the Order of the British Empire for his work over three decades supervising the restoration of the gardens of the National Trust.
