From the renowned Duke Integrative Medicine center, "The Mindful Diet" is the first book to combine health psychology with cutting-edge nutrition research to deliver an up-to-the-minute method for eating "mindfully" and breaking the yo-yo diet cycle. It's easy on occasion to eat too much, eat too quickly, eat for comfort, or choose junk food. But for increasing numbers of people, this behavior is the norm, not the exception. Every year millions of Americans vow to lose weight and get healthy but aren't able to overcome the largest roadblock to these changes--ingrained eating habits. Most diets don't address the roots of unhealthy behavior, and they also can damage self-worth as those trying to lose weight repeatedly cycle through success and relapse. Now, for the first time, two leading experts from Duke Integrative Medicine offer a new paradigm for eating and health--a step-by-step program that dismantles old patterns, provides new tools for making healthy choices, and fosters deep, internal motivation. Grounded in scientific research, "The Mindful Diet" examines how what we choose to eat and drink affects our body on a biochemical level, and how we can become aware of our own internal signals through the practice of mindfulness. Instead of an all-or-nothing approach to eating, in which dieting becomes an exertion of willpower, " The Mindful Diet "focuses on the many variables that drive our habits--including stress, unhappiness, and even unconscious beliefs--and provides a roadmap for "sustainable "change. Loaded with concrete meditation exercises, behavioral techniques, nutrition advice, and meal-planning charts, this book provides the tools to avoid cravings, stop emotional overeating, and figure out when you are full. Lasting weight loss and healthy living begin in the mind: now you can learn how to re-program your body, make healthy choices, lose weight, and keep it off for life.

Revue de presse :
"The Mindful Diet provides an empowering program, gifting the reader with easy to implement tools to fully engage the mind in the fundamentally important decisions related to foods choices. This is extremely valuable information that will clearly enhance your resolve when it comes to eating right." (David Perlmutter, MD, FACN #1 New York Times Best Selling Author of Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth about Wheat, Carbs, and Sugar - Your Brain's Silent Killers)

“This is not an “eat this, don’t eat that” program; rather, it’s an attack on the negative thoughts and patterns that lead to diet failure. Those who struggle with long-term weight issues may find this approach to be the answer they seek.” (Publishers Weekly)

The Mindful Diet gifts you with the tools needed to be mindful of every mouthful. Wolever and Reardon have transformed cutting edge science into a simple, doable blueprint for nourishing both mind and body. Reach for whole foods and redefine your relationship with foods as you let this elegant book guide you on your journey to optimal health and wellness.” (Pam Peeke MD, MPH, FACP, author of the New York Times bestsellers The Hunger Fix, Body for Life for Women, and Fight Fat after Forty)

The Mindful Diet skillfully leads the reader to a new relationship with eating and food. The book is wonderfully readable, yet Wolever and Reardon ground the many suggested practices in up-to-date wisdom from psychological research and nutritional information. It illuminates the dimensions of mindful eating in a way that is easily approachable, yet can help break the cycle of overeating and over-dieting.” (Jean Kristeller, Ph.D., Co-founder, The Center for Mindful Eating)

“In The Mindful Diet you will learn which foods to emphasize in your diet and which are best avoided. But more importantly, you will learn how to transform your relationship to food from one of mindless eating to one of intention. Given the current rates of obesity, heart disease and diabetes in the United States, this book is a vitally important contribution to helping us take charge of our own health.” (Tieraona Low Dog, MD, author of "Healthy at Home" and "Life is Your Best Medicine")

The Mindful Diet addresses the reason many people struggle with their weight—even though they know what they shouldn't eat, they still succumb to deeply ingrained habits, cravings, and distracted eating. With practical exercises and a sound eating plan, this fantastic, well-written book will teach you concrete strategies and skills for losing weight-for good!” (Cathy Wong, N.D., C.N.S., author of "The Inside-Out Diet")

“If your goal is to stop starving and struggling with unrealistic diets and start making real, lasting, do-able changes to your eating habits, The Mindful Diet is an essential, must-read guide. The Mindful Diet, a sensible, practical, step-by-step guide based on decades of experience and research, is chock full of tips that map out a way to reprogram mindless eating habits right now!” (Dr. Susan Albers, psychologist and New York Times Bestselling author of "EatQ" and "Eating Mindfully")

"Wolever & Reardon’s scientifically proven plan has effectively helped everyone from mindless eaters and yo-yo dieters to compulsive overeaters and binge eaters get a handle on their eating. Practice what they teach and you’ll not only change your diet, you’ll change your life!" (Jean Fain, author of "The Self-Compassion Diet")
